I started Cross Gen Games as a way to make games and share the path I take to make those games to maybe inspire/teach other developers to start or continue on the path of game development. I started my game development journey in January of 2020 and after a lot of research and tutorials decided to try the Game a Week challenge. I chose itch.io as the place to publish my work because: 1 it is free, 2 it seems to have a good niche community of developers , and 3 I like the ability to make the games free but also accept support if the audience feels inclined to.
I love making games and currently it is a hobby/side hustle and I enjoy making games that my daughter is able to play as well. She is only 4 though so I have to make them simple or include X-Box controller code to make sure she is able to enjoy the game to some extent along with me.
A focus I am trying to implement in my games is bringing different generations of family together to enjoy games in different ways. I am very close to my family and try to include them in the process when I can. Gaming is always more fun when you can do it with family and/or friends.
